Our New Addition!

Wow! What an amazing and surprising last 12 days we have had. Dylan is absolutely the sweetest little guy and we are seriously crazy about him! He probably gets really sick of our hundreds of daily kisses. Although we have never been this tired in our lives, we have also never been this happy and blessed to have him with us. We can't get enough of him and just love every grunt, smile, fart, dirty look and yawn that he does.
Well Wednesday June 2, I began having contractions at about 2:00 in the morning. I thought maybe I was just experiencing some false labor, so I didn't think much of it. To make a long story short, they continued all day and got longer and stronger. At 6 I went to a shower my ward put on for us, got home at 8:30 and was having some serious pain. I was getting a little nervous by this point because we knew he was breech (bottom first), so if it was true labor I didn't want it to progress too far. I called the Dr. and he told me to come in if they were about 5 minutes apart, so at 10:45 pm we headed to the hospital. I still did not expect to have a baby that night. . . I thought they may try and stop the labor or perhaps that it was false labor because he was not due until the 15th. They hooked us up to the monitor to measure contractions and his heart rate, and then the big surprise came.
The nurse informed us that they were probably going to have to deliver him soon. I asked her when and she said in about 20-30 minutes. What!!! Todd and I just stared at each other a little shocked trying to grasp that we were going to have a baby that soon! Todd got the hugest grin and I told him to hurry and call my mom. Within ten minutes, I was in the operating room hunched over getting a spinal block. We were so excited and I couldn't believe all of this was happening! I had such a flight of emotions. . I was nervous for him, excited to see him, unprepared at home but luckily didn't have much time to dwell on any of those feelings.
The C-section was over in about 35 minutes and Todd was able to watch everything. Hearing that little cry was indescribable! Hearing him and seeing his sweet little face was the most amazing experience I have ever had in life and I think Todd and I were crying more than Dylan was. He was born at 1:00 am Thursday June 3rd, 19 inches long and 5 lbs 14 oz. He is absolutely perfect and has been healthy, feeding well and is so much fun.
Needless to say, I was supposed to take my Nursing Boards that Sat June 5th, so the next day I sent Todd home to grab the laptop to reschedule the test. I'm not getting much studying in now, but he is so worth every sleepless night! Thanks to everyone for your sweet calls, texts etc. and I apologize for not responding promptly to them. I really appreciate your thoughtfulness though! We are just enjoying every minute of it! More updates to come soon!
